At the moment..

I'm listening to Franz Ferdinand on Youtube of all places, since I can't afford the CD right now. Ugh, and I call myself a fan! I should be peddling crack just to be able to purchase it.

I dropped the boy off at nursery today. He was sporting a large cut underneath his eye from some toy-related incident.
I was wondering why the first thing the nursery lady said to me was 'What happened to his eye?' and was even more perplexed when she proceeded to ask him the same question as I was leaving. Being the naive idiot that I am, it didn't occur to me that she might have thought I/mother/step-father had beat on him until I had walken halfway back to the house. So rather unfortuently I am now a renowned child-beater. Fantastic.

On a more positive note, I made cookies!
Yes, yet another batch of deliciousness!
It's okay though, because I'm at the house so the family will eat them all to save me from myself. I just thought they should try the doughy awesomeness.
Today they're extremely grown-up cookies with 70% Green & Black's chocolate and hazelnuts. G&B's chocolate is quite interesting - it almost tastes like black olive and is very intense. I still can't decide if I like it or not.
Also, are cookies something that shouldn't be dressed up? Should they be trashy with bad milk chocolate all the way? Is attempting to make them more sophisticated a travesty? I am very undecided on this most controversial issue.

  1. THANKS FOR THE MUSIC, NOT QUITE BACH, BUT NOT BAD...I LIKE THE WIT UNDERLYING YOUR QUESTIONS. COOKIES SHOULD BE AS DIVERSE AS COOKS. In Scotland, is a cookie also called a bun?

  2. Franz Ferdinand are my absolute favourite band, since I was 14. That song is quite different from their usual stuff, but I still love it. They also come from Scotland which is cool.
Nope, we just call them cookies. That only applies to the American type, everything else is called a biscuit. I haven't heard anyone say bun, but in England they say 'bap' for a bread roll.

  4. Sophie you make me laugh :) Don't worry, not all teachers/nursery nurses are ready to cry abuse when a child arrives with an injury...! I'm sure you won't be egged in the street just yet ;)
Loving your blog! Incidentally, can you give me a wee lesson on how to put YouTube videos on the page? So far I have only managed to put a link to the video, but the actual video being there looks so much better x

  5. Phew, that's good to know!

Putting the video on your page is really easy, even for me!
Go to youtube and click on the video you want.
On the right hand side of the video there's two lines of HTML: one called 'URL' and the other 'Embed'.
So the URL is the one you're copying and pasting, which will just give a link.
Copy and paste the 'Embed' one and when you're writing your blog entry you can just paste it in the position you want it.
Once you've published your entry it will appear as the video.

I used to know quite a bit of HTML when I was 14, but I've forgotten it all over the course of 3 years ): Luckily for us Youtube does all the work for us so we can just c+p :D
